The news of Elon Musk sleeping in Tesla factory is a routine now. And truth be told, it’s always been that way for him. During his first startup X.com, he couldn’t afford to get an apartment, so he slept in the office where he would code the site at night and put it up online in the day. Tesla is now in a ‘Production Hell’ as Elon Musk calls it, as the company is able to manufacture only half the number of cars per week than it anticipated.

When asked what exactly is it that he does staying in the factory overnight as he doesn’t paint the car or run the machines, Musk said “I stay there because I can solve the problem in real time. I look at the board, I can see where the problem is and make the correction and go check it out myself”.

Steve Jobs once said, “If you are working on something exciting that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed, the vision pulls you.” And you can see it in play when you see the hustle of any great entrepreneur, be it Musk working round the clock for Model 3 or Ray Crock expanding Mc Donald’s at the age of retirement or Sachin & Binny Bansal handing out free bookmarks outside the Gangaram Bookstore in Banglore during the early days of Flipkart. And truth be told, this is the life I have always dreamed for myself. To be so consumed working on something you love, that you don’t have any time for anything else but that. To work on it until the minute you sleep and jump right on to it the minute you wake up.
